Class Agenda #16 – Ukraine V. Russia – Next Steps

Opener- Review the following Quiz’s from yesterday’s class-

After reviewing the graph I seen that Russia has an upper hand when it comes to the Ukraine. Russia has 88.78 Billion more in their defense budget. Russia also, has 1,000,000 more reserves than the Ukraine. If these two countries went to war it would be a difficult win to achieve.
So after analyzing the graph I have come to a conclusion that Russia outweighs Ukraine in every aspect needed to take over another country. This also means that they have enough power to remain in control unless another powerful country comes and disrupts the situation. Another such as the United States which could lead to the next world war or even the end of the world if things get too out of hand.
As I analyze the military info-graph, which displays the military figures of the clearly out matched Ukrainian forces and the mighty Russian empire. Backed up by the IISS’s (International Institution for Strategic Studies) data that shows the slim odds of victory in a war like confrontation between the two nations, due to the Ukraine’s underfunded military, dependance on the rusted Soviet-era equipment, and other abrupt logistics.
 after seeing this whole page and comparing Ukraine and Russia it is obvious that russia has the bigger hand. They beat Ukraine in everything because there bigger . There stronger and wealthier. If I was Ukraine its time to fall back

  • Do not put in your opinion of the issue or topic discussed in the original piece. Often, instructors ask students to put their opinions in a paragraph separate from the summary.

Round 1- The skill you’re using is called Skimming. (THIS SHOULD BE COMPLETED)

Find at least 10 words that are new to you, or that are impressive to you:

  • Copy the word in your notebook.
  • Identify the root word, if applicable. Define in the word. Write if it’s a Noun, Verb, Adjective, etc…
  • Evaluate how the word is being used. What is the context?
    • EXAMPLE-
    • Word- Simultaneously – root- Simultaneous
    • Definition- to do at the same time.
    • Context- the story talks about two possible reasons for the demonstrations, and that it’s possible for both to be the reason at the same time.

Round 2- Skill you’re using is close reading (SHOULD BE STARTED IN CLASS ON TUESDAY)

  • Set up Cornell Notes for each of the readings.
  • As you read, fill in your Cornell Notes.
  • You should summarize at the end of each break in your reading.
